Some Republicans in the audience at the RNC did what all other attendees were doing and making up their own signs. As I watched the convention on "Palin night" I saw signs that said "Viva McCain" and "Drill Baby Drill" and the like. However what I did notice that was totally absent was anything immigration related and now we know why.
In the video below some Republicans who put together a sign that said simply "Build the Fence" were instructed by a secret service agent to take their sign down "now!". When questioned why, the agent said he had simply received his instructions from the "Control Room".
This issue is being avoided like the plague by McCain for good reason. He clearly is still in favor of amnesty for illegal aliens and now he is striving as hard as he can to quiet the free expression of those opposed to illegal immigration and in favor of the border fence. Don't expect anything to change if he is elected.

There's something dirty going on and everyone is ignoring it, except me it seems. That is the stance of Vice Presidential Candidate Sarah Palin on illegal immigration.
Now we get word in this latest column by Ruben Navarette Jr. - a champion of illegal aliens in this country who is fresh off of ranting and raving about how good the child of illegal aliens did in the Olympics - to bring us this piece on how Palin is a good choice for the Republican Party.
The endorsement of someone who has involved himself so much in pushing the illegal alien agenda for so many years and now endorses Palin should send up red flags for anyone who truly cares about this issue.
In the piece he basically reiterates the same thing others have been saying, but I believe there is an ulterior motive for someone who has championed for illegal aliens for so long. His piece is very well written to obscure this fact though and it makes me even question her stance on illegal immigration even more.
Just as an example of the pro-illegal propaganda Navarrette puts out, just have a read of this piece where he gives illegal alien supporters a little advice on how they can win the battle for America.
Oh, there is plenty to criticize in the most recent round of immigration raids, starting with the fact that employers never seem to get punished as severely and as publicly as workers do – at least not by immigration officials. (There is always the hope that other government agencies – such as the U.S. Labor Department or even the Internal Revenue Service – will look at a case and mete out their own brand of justice.) Or the fact that those who are apprehended often are herded like cattle and charged with heavy crimes such as identity theft. Or the fact that, lacking access to counsel, many plead guilty in proceedings they don't even understand, and end up in prison rather than simply being deported as they typically have been.
"The fact" that illegal aliens are herded like cattle? Really?

Crystal Dillman, the girlfriend of illegal alien Luis Ramirez who was killed in Shenandoah, Pennsylvania has reportedly been paid an undisclosed amount of money for a 3 page spread that will appear in People Magazine in September.
You remember Crystal Dillman, she's the one who showed up at our pro-America rally in Shenandoah the other day and unfurled a large Mexican flag in hopes of inciting violence from our 600 attendees.
It is also being reported that she received $20,000 from the Victim's Advocate fund. Note that Crystal was not even married to Luis Ramirez, though she had two children with him and has a third from a previous relationship. She is quoted in the People article regarding her "boyfriend" a 25-year-old illegal alien walking in the park with Dillman's half sister, a 15-year-old girl, at 11:30PM at night "(Dillman said in court she doesn't know whether the two were seeing each other)".
She also had this ridiculous statement to make "He wanted to become a US Citizen, but couldn't afford the legal fees". She is trying to lead us to believe that Luis Ramirez actually tried to apply and is implying that he loved this country, yet he is an illegal alien and illegal aliens cannot apply for citizenship.
You can read all about this and see the People article over at the newly launched website Save Shenandoah .

Vice Presidential Candidate Sarah Palin absolutely knocked it out of the park tonight at the Republican National Convention. There is absolutely no doubt about that. I would just like to remind everyone that as much as you may like Sarah Palin...
She is not the one who will be president
John McCain will be president, if you vote for their ticket, and I can almost guarantee you that someone who wrote a law for amnesty for illegal aliens and talked about them as "God's children" so many times and has put Juan Hernandez on his campaign staff as his Hispanic Outreach Director, has not changed his mind on illegal immigration.
If anything, the one thing that the Republicans harp on over and over is that he is a man of conviction. That being the case you can be sure that his conviction on giving amnesty to illegal aliens will continue.
I am a man of conviction as well and I "convicted" that I would not forget McCain's traitorous behavior to all Americans and legal residents of this country when he tried to force that amnesty for illegal aliens through.
Some have said to me that "well, we'll end up with Obama if I don't pick McCain". Well, you've just fallen into the trap that the Republicans have laid by nominating John McCain for president. They knew that you would fall in lockstep and forget all of the anti-American actions that John McCain took just a little over a year ago. Don't be a gullible fool and forget the battles we fought to prevent amnesty for illegal aliens from being passed.
I will still not be voting for McCain, even with this outstanding woman on the ticket. I stand by my statement that I don't feel that she is quite experienced enough yet. A few more years of proven success by Sarah Palin would quell my resistances to her being a potential president should the "main man" die. Two years as governor of such a small state - in population - is just not enough.
I'm sick of bowing to the political machine of the Republican Party who keep forcing choices on us that the American people don't want. And I refuse to bow to them this time. A serious lack of votes and support should change their tune that they can't do one thing one year and then turn around the next - with a bunch of words - and expect the true conservatives - of which I count myself - to just bow down and take it.

I did not have time to look much into the "Unity Rally" that was held simultaneously in Shenandoah, Pennsylvania as the immigration enforcement rally we had, now I have.
As I was putting together this media bias report I saw someone I know. That someone made me chuckle a little. If I would have realized this in advance you can be assured that my speech would have been a little different. For it turns out that the organizer of the Unity rally is none other than Dr. Agapito Lopez.
Now for those who don't know (and if you haven't been watching this issue in depth since at least 2006, which cuts out a lot of bloggers even), Dr. Agapito Lopez was one of the most outspoken activists against Hazleton, Pennsylvania's Illegal Immigration Relief act, was actually a plaintiff in the lawsuit against Hazleton and Mayor Lou Barletta and actively formed rallies against the ordinance. He's not a newcomer to this issue and he's been spreading his racist speech out there for a long time. Dr Agapito Lopez - an eye doctor by trade - was none other than the very first witness called in the Hazleton trial on day one by the plaintiff's attorney of the ACLU.
"We will never convert ourselves into Anglos. We will aculturize. We will learn the language. We will learn the laws. We will follow the laws. But we will never assimilate." - Dr. Agapito Lopez, July 2006
"We are family. If you insult part of the family, you insult the whole family" - Dr. Agapito Lopez, July 2006 There are some very "uniting" statements that Agapito Lopez said at the time of the trial.
According to him the Hispanic community does not want "unity" and that the way to get unity into communities is if nobody assimilates, everyone speaks their own language and illegal aliens are free to come to this country and go wherever they please without fear of being discovered. I don't know about you, but that is not the United States I live in.
Dr. Agapito Lopez is on the Governor's Advisory Committee on Latino Affairs and was vice president of the Hazleton Latino Association. When Lou Dobbs went to Hazleton for a town hall meeting Dr. Agapito Lopez was one of the people on stage. He didn't get much face time, but his message was clear.
You can read the full transcript of that town hall meeting here, but here is just a little of it.
DOBBS: ... are you suggesting that employers and landlords would only resort to looking at one's ethnicity in deciding that, as apparently some people have in this country, that illegal equals Hispanic, Hispanic equals illegal?
LOPEZ: The message that has gone through to the -- to the massive amount of people is that Latinos are identified as illegal, because that has been the great wave that has come into town. About 10,000 new immigrants have come to the...
(APPLAUSE)
DOBBS: Mr. Mayor...
BARLETTA: They're misleading the public.
Our ordinance does not allow landlords or businesses to determine anyone's immigration status. Only the federal government will make that determination. So, there are no store owners who are required to check any documents. And you know that's not true.
But the real people who are being discriminated are people like -- like Joe Farrow (ph) over there, an 82-year-old gentleman who drove from New Jersey to talk to me this week because his two children cannot find work. The American workers are the ones who are being discriminated against...
(APPLAUSE)
BARLETTA: ... because illegal aliens are taking their jobs.
(CHEERING AND APPLAUSE)
So Shenandoah, its mayor, its city council and the church that hosted the "unity" rally were used by Dr. Agapito Lopez to further his cause of unchecked illegal immigration. He did so under the guise of "unity" and the leaders of that community fell for it hook, line and sinker.

The media bias against those who want immigration laws enforced continues. I sat down and dissected a biased news report on the recent Shenandoah, PA pro-America and immigration enforcement rally held August 30, 2008.
As I attended and spoke at the event I can clearly see the bias in this report and have documented what I find to be a clear bias in favor of the "unity rally" that was held the same day by pro illegal immigration groups.
There are also slights against the community of Shenandoah that they were just on the edge of rioting.
In addition I point out who the organizers of the "unity rally" really are. You may be surprised (probably not though as it's par for the course).
After you watch the media bias video below, see the first media bias video I put together exposing NBC San Diego media bias in favor of illegal immigration. It is a little more detailed including analyzing their inflections.
For a full report on the rally, including pictures and video of all speeches, see my entry on the Shenandoah Immigration Rally

Dan Smeriglio, president of Voice of the People USA, Dan Amato (me) of Digger's Realm and Ruth Miller of Illegal Protest called into the Last Americans Standing show hosted by William Gheen of ALIPAC to discuss the pro-America immigration enforcement rally that was held in Shenandoah, Pennsylvania on August 30, 2008.
The discussions ranged from biased media to the lack of presence of local elected officials at the event to lowering of turnout numbers by reporters.
ALIPAC is currently running a fund-raiser to support not only ALIPAC, but also the Last Americans Standing show. So after you listen to the videos below head over there and help support the efforts to fight illegal immigration.
To hear the full show see the Last Americans Standing archive for August 31, 2008. The show airs live every Sunday from 3-5PM EST
For more pics and video see my post on the Shenandoah Rally and the Illegal Protest Shenandoah Rally post.

It was a humid day in Shenandoah, Pennsylvania as 600 people showed up to counter the vilification of their community by groups like MALDEF, LULAC and La Raza. Thunderstorms threatened all day, but we were graced with a rain free event. These racist groups that came to Shenandoah were there to point to an isolated incident of an illegal alien killed in their community in a park at 11:30PM in July. The illegal alien, Luis Ramirez was in the park with one of the youth's 13-year-old sisters that night.
Click image for large panorama |
These groups are trying to slander the whole community of Shenandoah and all of those opposed to illegal immigration as having been behind this incident. It simply isn't the case and that was shown yesterday as the event was peaceful and pro-American. The only incident that occurred is when the girlfriend of Luis Ramirez showed up with a couple friends and thought unfurling a large Mexican flag was a good idea. The media ate that portion up, but it did not cause any violent incident that these groups wanted.
The people of Shenandoah were patriotic and fiercely defensive of their community. I'd like to mention that a few skinhead types did attend the rally. They were not invited and came from outside of the community and tried to disrupt it by shouting out white power statements. I'd like to reiterate that they were not invited just as the girls who unfurled the Mexican flag were not invited. As you'll see in my speech - which will be up below - I'm sure they weren't too thrilled with me.
 Mexican flag confronted |
These groups on both sides - the skinheads and the racist La Raza groups - continue to think this is all about race. It is not. It is about our country. A country of diverse ethnicities working together for progress. These racist groups are not for ALL and those in our movement condemn their beliefs.
The community of Shenandoah's official population is only 5,400 people, so having 600 people show up, more than 10% of the community, is a huge victory in this fight against hate and in favor of America and American ideals. These numbers come from the police at the event and I don't particularly care what the media is reporting - some saying as low as 100 which the video and pictures clearly show is a lie - they are biased, have an agenda and will try to make our efforts look as minuscule as possible.
Video is up below these pictures from the event.
Videos below
Dan Smeriglio, President of Voice of the People USA opened things up with a pledge of allegiance to the flag and a moment of silence for Luis Ramirez. He addressed the demonizing of Shenandoah that is going on and that the community should remember that the majority of Americans are behind them. Dan will speak more later, so he kept things short.
Ruth Miller of Illegal Protest called out our government officials who are refusing to enforce the laws already on the books regarding illegal immigration. She also discussed how Shenandoah is not alone in being signled out by race based groups. Nobody asked illegal aliens to come into Shenandoah.
Me. I lost control once again as I addressed the realities going on across this country regarding these racist groups like La Raza calling patriotic Americans racists. I rant and rave and generally get too passionate and excited. *sigh* Either way my message is clear.
Ed Medashefski focused on the lack of jobs, yet that argument is being used by the government to encourage more immigration, both legal and illegal. He stressed that local law enforcement should be allowed to question a criminals immigration status. He pointed out that the Illegal Immigration Relief Act (IIRA) that was passed in Hazleton should be enacted in other communities.
Dan Smeriglio spoke about... well he spoke about a lot of stuff and I'm not going to cover it all. Watch the videos below.
Wendy Medashefski said that they are going to bring a crime watch to Shenandoah. She also talked about a Criminal Alien Program (CAP) which gives local law enforcement the ability to deport aliens in jails that are about to be released, rather than be released onto the streets. She called for voting out officials who refuse to crack down on illegal immigration. She went after the mayor of Shenandoah, Thomas O'Neill, who said that their community deserved the negative spotlight they are getting. She also went on to point out the sacrifice of the volunteers who cover this issue and drive the rallies.
All videos are below.
After you watch all the videos be sure to check these out:

600 people showed up at the Shenandoah, PA Voice of the People USA rally today and it was an exciting and patriotic atmosphere. I am simply exhausted. The people of Shenandoah are absolutely fabulous and the media presence was heavy including helicopters etc.
I have much media to put together including all of the video of the speeches and some great pictures. I'll get to that as soon as I can, but I just got home 5 minutes ago (about 11:40PM) after leaving at 3:30PM. Long day, long drive.
UPDATE: Full rally coverage including pictures and video are at my entry

There is absolutely no stance or action on illegal immigration recorded on Vice Presidential Candidate Sarah Palin anywhere in statements or press releases. We have absolutely no idea where she stands on the border fence, birthright citizenship, workplace enforcement, sanctuary cities and in general, amnesty. This is disturbing for a running mate that could potentially end up as the commander in chief should McCain die in office. I have looked far and wide for information and come up blank.
All I can assume is that she is in lockstep with McCain's amnesty since amnesty for illegal aliens is an issue he has such a passion for that he has gotten angry at anyone who questions him on it - including voters.
If anyone can find information on Sarah Palin's stance on illegal immigration please send it on by posting a comment below or through the contact link at the top and bottom of this site. Thank you
