Elisa Kawasaki, 25, was sentenced to 180 days in the county jail and 5 years probation after pleading no contest in August to one felony count of unlawful sex with a minor. The judge let Kawasaki off the hook in not forcing her to register as a sex offender, a bad decision in my opinion since it is a felony count. Six months also seems a little lenient for a teacher who took advantage of a student.
Kawasaki was arrested in May, 2005 and initial reports suggested that there may have been up to 20 encounters between Kawasaki and the 16-year-old.

Elisa Kawasaki, 25, will also have to give up her teaching credential, attend counseling and stay away from the 17-year-old boy she molested.
Kawasaki, a former first-year biology teacher, pleaded no contest to one felony count of unlawful sex with a minor in August. She is accused of having sex with a male student who is now 17.
