Racism Or Logic: Immigration Reform And The Race Card

Bookmark and Share

There's a certain portion of our country that will pull out the race card anytime you even mention enforcing immigration laws. They'll call you a racist and say that deporting illegal aliens is simply because "you just hate brown people". They'll never ask you how you'd solve the problem or what should be done about it so that people can come here legally and in an orderly fashion that benefits all. They won't ask you why you want them enforced. They'll shrug off any mention of national security, crime, social services spending, state budgets or anything else that is logical. Here's a few others covering this issue today.

Michelle Malkin has a new column up entitled What part of 'enforcement' don't they understand?.
She also has a nice list of things that conferees wanted to cut from the intelligence bill that was recently not passed.

Right Wing News has more on the latest immigration reform outlook, here's a small excerpt

The reality is that most of us conservatives who rail against illegal immigration are not "anti-immigrant". In fact, off the top of my head, I don't even know of any conservatives who are truly hostile to legal immigrants who've come to our country seeking a better way of life for themselves and their families. Moreover, it personally makes absolutely no difference to me whether someone's ancestors came over on the Mayflower or whether they became a citizen yesterday. An American is an American is an American.

La Shawn Barber jumps back onthe immigration reform horse and can't get off.

The most pressing matter facing America is not “poverty” or “racism” or "lack of health care." It’s illegal immigration by people who have no interest in embracing American culture, and I’m not talking about the degradation and filth coming out of Hollywood. I’m referring to valuable things like respect for the rule of law and a common heritage and language.

The Opinion Bug claims the new Attorney General, Alberto Gonzales is a member of La Raza. Really? I wonder if that's true.

The President has now nominated White House Counsel Alberto Gonzales for Attorney General [head of the Department of Justice and chief law enforcement officer of the Federal Government]. Alberto Gonzales is a respected member of La Raza. La Raza is a Hispanic civil rights and advocacy organization that promotes less stringent immigration laws. La Raza supports ‘The DREAM Act’ which would give undocumented students the opportunity to gain conditional permanent resident status under certain conditions and make them eligible to receive student loan assistance. La Raza also supports giving illegal aliens the ability to obtain driver licenses. Why would the United States want a member of this organization as its chief law enforcement officer?

Slightly Off Center reports on the disappointed people in Arizona seeing their will and vote being worthless when their leaders keep going against what they want.

Proposition 200, the controversial immigration reform package passed by a wide margin by Arizonans on Election Day, was put on hold by a Federal judge, raising questions about its constitutionality.

Digger, I have posted this theory once before on your blog, and thought so well of that one that I sent it to Bush, and both my Senators. Sen. Allard answered me . . . And he, like most politicians with a Hispanic population in his state, beat around the bush, choosing to debate the merits of "Border Enforcement and Homeland Security", and breaking no new ground.

Y'know, in the last 30 years or so, the illegal immigrant problem has continously been a subject for debate . . And we have debated it to death. Also, our government has tried many things to control the open borders of the southwest, with little or no effect.

We have failed to understand that the countries to the south of us WANT these people to come here . . Look at the U.S. Dollars that get sent home every year by both legal and illegals from Mexico alone. It is estimated to be well over 10 BILLION dollars per year!

Fox would be out of his mind to turn away that kind of economic aid! Plus, they get rid of their desperately poor . . it isn't the Mexican Middle Class that is sneaking over into Arizona at night! So none of the countries South of the border are going to help with the problem!

On the other hand, we, the Americans, do nothing to discourage them from coming! We do have a few INS people trying to catch and deport, but that isn't even a finger in the dike! Our Corporations and Construction Companies hire them by the droves, using Sub-Contractors as the responsible agencies so that if someone is caught it's the "Sub", not the Corporation (Re:Tyson & Wal Mart) that is deemed responsible. So what, you say?

I say, let's make it a CRIME to employ an Illegal Immigrant! Yeah, I know, it's already against the law . . But Hell, it's a misdemeanor, I think the max fine is $1000, and the prosecution is so lax as to not exist! Why not make it Absolutely, Totally uneconomical to be caught employing an undocumented worker . . Like a $150k fine and 5 years minimum encarceration for each one found to be employed on your job? Betcha that'd make the Human Resources people look a little harder at who cleans the pisser!

IF there were no reason for these people to come, they wouldn't, would they?

Then establish new rules and tracking systems for the legal immigrant workers, guarantee U.S. Citizenship for all who enlist in our Armed Forces (they're making a huge payment towards YOUR Freedom), and guide our future citizens into assimulation. That way, you'll see a lot less Mexican Flags displayed, a whole bunch of people who don't give a shit about Cinco de Mayo or the Mexican culture in general, because they'll be AMERICANS!
