Congressman Luis Gutierrez (D-IL) is once again pushing amnesty for illegal aliens. He has tried this many times over the years, but has not given up. I think it's time that the American people start calling congress again and making it clear that we are still opposed to illegal immigration and an amnesty for illegal aliens.

In this interview with Lou Dobbs Gutierrez tries to play like he actually wants immigration laws enforced and the border secured, but anyone who knows him knows that he wants neither of these things to occur. He wants citizenship for illegal aliens so that they will vote with the Democrats who will continue to give them "free" services like welfare food stamps, health care and education on the backs of the American taxpayer.

Gutierrez says he wants workplace verification, yet avoids the question of E-Verify as being the choice, since it is effective. He wants workplace verification that doesn't work and doesn't verify. He throws out the Swift meatpacking plant raid that in 2006 found masses of illegal aliens working there, even though Swift was in the E-Verify system. He failed to mention however that the one serious flaw in E-Verify is that it does not allow an employer to check a workers status that is already employed with the company, only new hires.

If Gutierrez were serious he would back E-Verify and demand that it also be used for a companies entire current workforce, to ensure that it is actually effective and things like the Swift meatpacking event doesn't happen again.
