The Congressional Hispanic Caucus is furious at CNN for having Lou Dobbs on their network. They are so mad that they are now targeting all of CNN claiming that they are anti-immigrant and following in Dobbs footsteps.
It is quite amazing to me that in this day and age when half of the Hispanic youth in this country are dropping out of High School that the Hispanic Caucus actually has the time to focus on blaming a tv commentary show or network for all of their ills. That is exactly what they are doing though and they refuse to take any responsibility at all themselves.
These people are in their positions simply to hold power and grasp at money- nothing else. They are trading on the race issue for their own success and to Hell with the community they claim to represent or America.
I won't even get started on the fact that there are even segregated caucuses based on race in the US Congress. That's quite obviously racist on their part and not in the best interests of all Americans to represent a group of only one race of people.
Leaders of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, a coalition of 21 Latino congressmembers, dispatched a letter Friday to Time Warner CEO Jeffrey Bewkes complaining that the network's news coverage is slanted against immigration and has adopted the rhetoric of outspoken CNN host Lou Dobbs.
CHC Chairman Joe Baca (D-CA) and Sen. Bob Menendez (D-NJ) expressed outrage that their appeals to meet privately with CNN have gone ignored, and that their letter to Time Warner's CEO have instead ended up on the desk of CNN's president.
“We are deeply offended that you did not take the time or effort to respond to a request from twenty Members of the United States House of Representatives and a United States Senator, but instead simply passed the letter along to Mr. Walton,” the lawmakers wrote, according to an article Monday in Roll Call. “It is additionally offensive that you did so on a topic as important and sensitive as your company’s treatment and portrayal of Latinos in this country.”
Don't be fooled. This is a direct attempt to shut down Lou Dobbs from pointing out the truth using threats.
Also noted in the article is the fact that Congressional Hispanic Caucus Chairman Joe Baca actually met with CNN president Jim Walton and had the gall to propose to him that they put together a show to counter-balance Lou Dobbs. One that presumably promotes illegal immigration.
I would just like to remind Mr. Baca that CNN already tried that. It was called "Out in the Open" with pro illegal alien supporter Rick Sanchez and it sucked and failed miserably. It's good to see a member of Congress telling the head of a network what would be a good business decision when he has been getting paid by the government. I mean being government subsidized means that you know how to run a business right?
How dare people in this country demand to violate the free speech rights of a citizen in the U.S. Especially people who are representing illegal aliens and immigrants who came here on their own and at their own risk. These people knew what they are doing is illegal, they also know how to get around tax laws, immigration laws, and other laws that are supposed to protect us from people like these. We have to worry about our ID's being stolen, property taxes being raised, crime rates going up, schools being overcrowded, hospitals being bankrupt, and courts being clogged by people who want to use the benefits of this land but don't think that they should be expected to do anything that we are expected to do if we want these things.
They would complain if someone decided that their speeches offended people and were told to stop, or if one of their organizations failed to get their support funds from the government. Why should illegals be allowed to practice their right to protest and their freedom of speech in this country but expect citizens to shut up if they disagree.
