Is Maywood, California The Most Corrupt And Racist City In America?

Bookmark and Share

Mexican Flag Over Post Office
It seems that the Los Angeles Times has just figured out that Maywood, California is corrupt. Maywood has a population of 30,000, 96% are Latino, half are foreign born and a good portion are illegal aliens. Funny that corruption should happen in a town just south of LA that has had a massive influx of Latin American illegal aliens.

Maywood has declared itself a sanctuary city and closed its traffic division at the urging of illegal aliens and their supporters after too many cars were being towed because those stopped didn't have driver's licenses. There are also pushes in the community to rename elementary schools after former Mexican President Benito Juarez. Maywood also had police stand by during an anti illegal immigration rally as Mexican reconquistas and illegal aliens raised a Mexican flag over the post office.

When immigrants, both legal and illegal, come here and don't assimilate, they bring their form of "justice, law and government" with them - all of which are corrupt in their home countries.

The Times story focuses on the 37 member all male police department, they deem as a "haven for misfit cops" and found that a third have previous criminal histories or suspicions of such, but the problem is obviously widespread throughout the community. Other law enforcement communities refer to Maywood police as the department of "second chances".

Among those on the job: A former Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputy terminated for abusing jail inmates; a onetime Los Angeles Police Department officer fired for intimidating a witness; and an ex-Huntington Park officer charged with negligently shooting a handgun and driving drunk.

... included [are] accusations that police and city leaders were on the take from the owner of a local tow company; that a longtime officer was extorting sex from relatives of a criminal fugitive; that a police officer tried to run over the president of the Maywood Police Commission in the parking lot of City Hall; that an officer impregnated a teenage police explorer; and that officers had covered up the truth.

In addition, the newly appointed police chief has a suspicious past.

Illegal Aliens
From an August, 2006 rally against illegal immigration in Maywood, California

Back in August of 2006 I covered the Save Our State rally in Maywood where cars of the protesters were vandalized and had their tires slashed, a woman was assaulted as well as a 70-year-old man who was slashed and the police stood by and did nothing.

Arriving at the rally, the setup by the police was such that the protesters were actually forced to walk through illegal alien thugs in order to get to their location. During this trek, a woman protester was assaulted and beaten as police stood by and watched. On top of this, because of the parking situation, a number of the protesters cars were attacked and damaged by illegal aliens who saw them arrive. A few cars were spray painted and numerous car's tires were slashed.

I would deem Maywood, California the face of things to come in American cities across the country if illegal immigration is not put in check and if legal immigrants are not expected to assimilate. Currently the path this country is on will allow corruption to flow out of control. We no longer seem to care if immigrants assimilate. Groups, businesses and even our governments throughout the country support these unwilling immigrants by providing massive amounts of Spanish language channels, translation services, handholding and directions on how to apply for social services or file lawsuits soon after they arrive in this country.

Now none of this is wrong when it comes to helping newly arrived legal immigrants, but the fact is that this is not a short time program to help them get going on their feet and fit into American society. It is a concerted effort to allow third world communities to flourish within the United States with no loyalty or willingness to adapt to our way of government and beliefs.

Maywood is just an example of a community overrun that then elects officials who dismantle laws in order to encourage lawlessness and the continued invasion of this country by illegal immigrants. And dare I say it, it's all purely racist in nature. There would be public outcry by groups across the country if specific laws were thrown away to protect the Black, White or Asian individuals in the community from facing responsibility for their actions, but that is specifically what Maywood has done by becoming a "sanctuary city" and getting rid of laws because they are "a burden" to the almost 100% Hispanic illegal aliens in the city.

How much longer are we going to stand by as Americans and watch this?

please look into police officer taking city vehicles home. They use the city gas card. The city vehicle is used at thier pleasure. They shouldn't have the right to do this.

Yes, please look into the police taking their vehicles home. Perhaps you might find out that quite often, police are required to take their units home. This may be K-9 units, as an example, as the dogs go with the officers to home locations. Other times a vehicle is signed out to go out of the city for a task, the officer is closer to home at the end of his shift, and stays overnight. Some cities check the car out to the officer for his personal car also. Get a clue.

What do you expect them to do when the chief of police hires his own daughter, rewards cronies with higher paying and unbudgeted positions? Leadership begins at the top and so far sadly, there is none. What's left is a take, take, take until there is no more mentality.

I agree with you on the fact that Maywood's corrupt cops need to go, but how can you call Maywood a racist city when you yourself are sounding somewhat racist in some of your commentary. When you say that immigrants bring their form of justice, law, and government which is corrupt- how dare you stereotype all these people by saying that all of them bring this? Don't forget that all countries have a certain degree of corruption and the U.S.'s degree of corruption isn't all because of immigrants like you are insinuating. Why do they need to assimilate to what you deem "the American way" when America prides itself in its diversity? I don't see any reason why these immigrants have to change their cultural ways when they have a beautiful culture- and no corruption is not part of their culture.

Americans do not like "forced diversity."

I lived in maywood for over 15 years.Being white Istood out. After wittnessing multiple drive bys (3 a week)outside my front door it was time to leave.I sold the house my grandmother had left my father and split. THERE IS NO REASON FOR ANY RESPECTABLE WHITE AMERICAN TO BE IN MAYWOOD CALIF..LET IT BURN

Posted by: mccann on May 15, 2010 03:37 PM

A neighborhood is what it tolerates. Try pulling that flag stunt in Mexico. After the locals beat you to a pulp the police would finish the job. Our politicians are more concerned about kissing Mexican voter's asses than they are about administering the oath they took in office. Mexicali is no longer a city it's an attitude, and it's florishing in California. Excuse me: CALIFAS!

Posted by: john on June 20, 2010 11:01 PM

Why are such levels of illegal immigration tolerated?
Because Amerika has become a giant Ponzi scheme.

What do ALL ponzi schemes require to keep going?
New suckers.

Amerika is literally scraping the bottom of the 3rd world barrel to keep our ponzi going.
Of course it will fail. But it buys time. It buys another day in office, another paycheck for thousands of bureaucrats sucking at the public's tax teat.

This is amazing. We in the USa are letting these 3rd world thugs and criminals destroy and reverse years of order and a decent way of life in an extremely short time period. Mexicans, latin americans, and any and all of them here illegally need to get the %$^& out and go back to the land that they proclaim to love and work to change IT. Sadly they do not. They simply want to grab this land and its resources and infrastructure and destroy it.

Posted by: Greg on June 24, 2010 09:06 AM

If your residents are illegal, why shouldn't your police? Glad I live in the north east, it is better than what has been described! Good luck, California is a joke and we laugh at you.

Posted by: jeff on June 25, 2010 01:55 AM

The time is near when Americans will start waking up and say enough is enough. I believe a larger not smaller portion of illegal immigrants are here for all the wrong reasons (the newer generation of illegals especially) and are taking advantage of the American peoples tolerance and generosity. This newer wave of emboldened illegals are coming close to setting off a firestorm of resentment which just might be the game changer we need for getting a handle on all the gatecrashers in this country. If burning our flag and flying the Mexican flag is what it takes to get Americans pissed and motivated I welcome this behavior, keep it up.

Posted by: Don on June 25, 2010 11:27 PM

It's hard to believe that I grew up in Maywood. Us kids played outside until after dark. Your neighbors all knew each other. There were Whites, Mexican-Americans, Cubans, Blacks; all working class, blue collar folks.

Then in the late 1970s all of the manufacturing moved out and all of the illegals started moving in. And it was "politically incorrect" to stop the takeover. Now my hometown exists in name only. I envy those of you who still have yours.

Posted by: Cliffystones on June 28, 2010 12:16 PM

This article made me cry. I was born in Maywood in 1925 and spent my childhood in the worst depression years. Nobody had money but all the neighbors and kids played together and enjoyed the simple things of life. No TV or portable radios, only 78 records and windup phonographs. We were almost all white but included a lot of LEGAL immigrants, mostly from Europe. I went to Lindbergh elementary then Loma Vista,Carmelita and finally Bell High School, after which most all of the boys went off to World War II. My Mom lived in the same house I was born in until she died in 1966. I lived there until I took a job in San Diego in 1956. I was last in Maywood about 4 years ago and we had a nice visit with the young legal Mexican family who now own my old house. They have made a lot of improvements and have definitely assimilated. I wonder what they think of the current situation. It was such a beautiful little town and we need to take it back on the way to taking back our country!

Posted by: Ruth M on June 30, 2010 05:03 AM

So how do you know the young Mexican family you spoke to are legal? Did you ask to see their passports? I agree whith people saying we have a problem with ilegal immigrants, In my opinion those who have a police record or any criminal history should be deported, not only Mexicans but also other ilegals you never hear about like Asians and Europeans. There are many ilegals who are hard working and have never been in trouble with the law nor have they abused public services, these people should be given the opportunity to get legal and provide for thier families without the fear of being fired or deported for their status.

Posted by: TuMami on June 30, 2010 01:40 PM

There are many ilegals who are hard working and have never been in trouble with the law nor have they abused public services, these people should be given the opportunity to get legal and provide for thier families without the fear of being fired or deported for their status.

1) They came here knowingly illegally.
2) How did they get a legitimate job without proper legal documents? They didn't they are either working illegally or using stolen identity documents.
3) By them simply being here public services are being used. Infrastructure (roads, hospitals, police stations, fire stations) is built based on population. Therefore they are costing US taxpayers money.

I await your reply on how they are not criminals or a burden to US taxpayers simply because they didn't carjack or mug someone.

Well, let's do a lil homework here and we'll find some surprising answers.
1) Have you ever been to a 3rd world country? Do u know what a truly corrupt leadership can do to a family? Corruption is 99.9 persent of the time attached to greed. Greed is usually associated with money and land/natural resources. Greed can be so powerful that it can influence violence, which in itself can influence some to commit murder, robbery, and/or the raping of family members by people who are corrupt in their ways ( i.e. drug lords and tyrants in the government ). Now imagine urself trying to raise a family in this type of environment where even the local schools can't protect children let alone teach them. Wouldn't that be enough to make u move to the nearest free country?
And this brings us to...
2) If these people were living on stolen identity documents don't ya think they would be living in much better living conditions? I mean seriously, go to Arizona and look at the places they are willing to live in just to be able to raise their families. Most of us would not even think of living in area like those. But yet those very areas are almost paradise compared to where they're from
3) Read up on your history and study it. "Give me your tired, your poor,Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me.
I lift my lamp beside the golden door.". This is a piece of history sculpted on the Statue of Liberty. You are right about one thing, illelgals do use our public services. They do cost tax payers a little money. But ya know what ? Looking after someone who needs help is far more important than looking after our own petty stingyness. Yeah some of them are bringing drugs in or doing other illegal stuff but don't label everyone of them as being criminals because of a few bad apples. To sum it up, do your homework and put yourself in someone elses shoes before you criticize them over what you only see and don't know.

Posted by: Ibcruisn on July 1, 2010 03:39 PM

To Ibcruisn,
To sum it up you need to do your home work too by reading the Dark side of Illegal Immigration then put yourself in our shoes. It goes way beyond petty stinginess esp when your talking about millions of people. How is it that the legal immigrants here from your country and other countries can do it the right way and others dont.My great grandparents from both my parents came over here from europe the right way legally.Dont use what is on the statue of liberty meaning you can break our laws.Millions were welcomed here legally and were not turned away. You cant use your reasoning as an excuse to break the law, then were does it stop! That doesnt mean we dont feel for your situation.Besides I myself cant imagine wanting to bring children into the world you describe.Wouldnt it have been smarter to get here legally then start a family? Thats called being responsible.Dont blame your poor judgment mistakes on others especially knowing how horrible it was as you describe it.That didnt happen overnight. You dont even have to tell me about terror either because I grew up with it in my own family, not even outside in the streets, and lucky to be alive today so that just doesnt happen in 3rd world countries. So do your homework and quit making excuses for breaking the law and do what you need to do to make it better like responsible people do that get damn tired of working hard and getting nothing for free and supporting everyone else when they are have a hard time just supporting their own families. There are far more issues you brought up than causing the tax payers a little money!!!Breaking the law is a crime period, we are ALL responsible for our actions. If I break the law here I have to pay the consequences. If there werent laws in this country and they werent enforced, I guess it would become just like where you came from and nobody here wants that.Where does it stop then!!!!!

Posted by: Lilly on July 1, 2010 07:58 PM

Ur right, it does go way beyond petty stingyness. Especially when talking about thousands of people ( not millions ) that enter the country illegaly. And The Dark Side of Illegal Immigration was right on when it came to the facts. But there are some things you failed to realize. If you do some research on immigration and citizenship you'll learn that there are certain rules and doctrines pertaining to each country for gaining citizenship due to the status and details of the country of origin. The report said that there were people from 180 different special countries. Special countries is government terminology for known/active terrorst countries. That does not mean the those particular people are bad people. Most countries in Europe have it way much easier than people from most countries South of us when it comes to gaining citizenship. It's a known and proven fact. That should answer your question as to why some immigrants from around the world enter legally and others don't. Look at where there from. And then look at the reasons why they come. For many of these people, violence has always been a part of their lives since the day they were born whether they be directly involved in the violence commited or it be something that they've witnessed on a daily basis. Iraq if the perfect example of this. The reason that i mention different situations is because of the fact that there are multiple experiences that cause every human being to make the choices they do. If comming to a free country to take care of their families makes them criminals then so be it. It's better to be loved for what you are, then to be loved for what you are not. You speak of doing things like a responcible person, what could possibly be more responsible than a person taking care of their family by any means nessary. Like you said Lily, "We're all resonsible for our actions". But what you fail to realize is that sometimes to do something right, you have to do something wrong. Such as breaking the law. But getting into a free country doesn't stop there. For a person to be successful, they do have to work hard. Learn the language. Learn to be respectful and patient. But most importantly learn what it means to be an American and don't forget where ya came from.

Posted by: Ibcruisn2004 on July 2, 2010 08:27 AM

As Americans we have a right to say who comes and who goes. Illegal immigration is against the law. All other arguments on "human rights" are moot. Go argue your case to the UN.

I have addressed the Statue of Liberty and its poem in the past:

As far as going to third world countries, I have been to many. I feel their plight. I also feel that we cannot solve their problems by allowing them into our country. Your argument should be that they need to stand up and take back their country and turn it into a beacon of freedom, not that they should decide instead to break the law and affect other countries.

If you are not willing to stand up and fight for your country, you receive no sympathy from me. Live in your squalor. This goes for those sitting idly by while America deteriorates as well.

Posted by: Digger on July 2, 2010 05:22 PM

To truly understand what is like to be in a 3rd world country you have to live there and experience it. When visiting you only see a very small portion of it. You only see one side of it. I've had the unique opertunity to observe their lives and environments becuase of what i do for a living. But i've also seen it from 2 other different perspectives, the Government side, and the civilian side. Trust me when i say this, the only way that u could possibly truly understand this is to experience it snd observe it for yourself. When it comes down to it, it's not about Humand Rights, it's about Morale Law vs. Manmade laws. Most people who get turned away ( other than some peoples crimes ) is not because of what they've done but because of where their from. The person who came up with the immigration system had a very good and well thought out idea, but it needs to be redone. The current one has too many gaps in it. Just because a person is from a less dangerous country does not mean that they're a less dangerous person. Go to any military base in Iraq and Aghganistan and you'll know exactly what i mean. And ur right about one more thing, we cannot solve their problems for them, that's implausible to do. But we can give them the opportunity to learn so they can fight back. It's just like a kid to an adult, the kid's not gonna learn anything until the adult teaches it. How is America deteriorating if it prides itself in it's diversity ? As for sitting in squalor...How could u possibly label me as living in squalor ? Have u ever had to physically fight to help save a person u don't know? One of the biggest problems is that many but not all only see the problems through tunnel vision eyes and don't see the problem in it's whole. You've got to look at the entire problem and not just a part of it.

Posted by: Ibcruisn2004 on July 3, 2010 12:25 AM

This is what LA will be like in a few years. What is truly sad is that sanctuary cities are sucking the life out of everything around them, and they have the nerve to pretend they are all "humanitarians". Disingenuous quotes such as "no person is illegal" is BS. The racism and corruption alive and well in Maywood, doesn't add up to being humanitarian, they are the basest of human traits. VIVA ARIZONA!

Since the net economic benefit of illegals to the society far
surpasses the cost, idiotic xenophobic aphorisms in this
ariticle would be a laughable waste of time if not for the fact
that they incite white trash to hatred.

That's right, I am stating the the low wages paid to illegal
immigrants far and away make up for their "cost" to society.

If you want to find corrupt police, you can find them in
many cities of all races and color.

If you want to find economic waste, look to the oligarchy
in this country. From 1947 to 1977, real hourly wages
increased at the same rate as GDP (i.e., both the middle
class and the wealthy share increase in productivity).
From 1977 to 2010, real GDP per capita doubled but
wages to workers barely went up.

Where did all the money go? To the top few percent
of the wealthy.

Then, last year, the bankers, who had essentially stolen
a few trillion dollars, were bailed out by our rulers.

Why doesn't the National Review cover that story?

The facts about the GDP and how the private system has re-distributed almost all of that to the wealthiest Americans making them more wealthy are documented very clearly in Les Leopold's very readable book:

The Looting of America

How Wall Street's Game of Fantasy Finance Destroyed Our Jobs, Pensions, and Prosperity—and What We Can Do About It

Ibcruisn2004 said:

They have to break into our country to learn from us? Your arguments are moot. Yes, the world sucks. Everyone can agree on that. There are 300+ million people in this country right now. I can probably find another 300+ million... no make that another 3 billion... who would want to come to America tomorrow. Many are good people, but that doesn't mean we can simply let them all in.

We let in a million+ each year legally. A MILLION+! Then another million sneak in illegally each year. Even if we bumped our legal immigration to 3 million per year there would still be a million+ illegal aliens coming in each year. Why? The reasons are endless: Because they don't want to wait in line. They don't want to wait for us to check them out. They don't want to spend their own money (or don't have any) to pay for their documents. They have a criminal record. They have terrorist connections. They want to have a baby here so they have a US citizen anchor. They are straight up thieves or moochers that just want to live off our taxpayers welfare. They were caught illegally here and sent back more than once and no can't come legally... There are endless reasons and none of them are really in the BEST INTERESTS OF AMERICA - which we have a right to demand as a nation of citizens. It's not mean, it's what is logical.

And in the end their countries still would not reform themselves.

You make a lot of assumptions with very little logic to your arguments. Such as this one...

How is America deteriorating if it prides itself in it's diversity ?

We are the most ethnically diverse country on Earth, your comment is an insult by insinuating that we are a racist country by nature - which is the furthest thing from the truth. We have been diverse since our founding (and yes there were black freemen in the United States, they weren't all slaves. And not all American Indians were slaughtered, many helped join in and make this the greatest country on Earth. - As well as Asians of all ethnicities and Latinos and many other ethnicities. Or is it just the White Americans you are referring to?)

And here's another asinine comment:

Have u ever had to physically fight to help save a person u don't know?

Almost my entire family has a military background (including myself). Almost all have fought in wars, so yes we have had to fight for millions of others we "don't know". And so have millions upon millions of other vets who live in the United States.

Do me a favor and go read the Constitution and the works of our founding fathers, then come back and talk to me about how we're supposed to give our country away to help save the world.

Isn't the success of our nation enough of a lesson to others on how to turn their countries around? Apparently to you it is not. We're supposed to give away everything o others.

They don't have to break in here and see it first hand in order to learn of our principles and what made our country a success.

I tire of you and your insulting insinuations and baseless irrational comments on what "we have to do for others".

Oh yea, you totally get more wealth produced from an illegal immigrant taking cans out of people's trash and selling them back to dumb Americans than you expend on giving him or her MRI's, heart transplants, the finest dental care in the world and free childcare.

I wish there were few enough downtrodden people that we could take care of them all, but 300 MILLION PEOPLE CANNOT TAKE CARE OF SIX BILLION!

No police? Farming out city services? Let's see if they have any pretty pictures to put up on their town website in the future. Because you can see from Mexican towns how much pride of ownership they put into their areas.

Only a single token White on the city council. This place is going to self-immolate. Problem is, once it's a total sh&thole, they'll just go somewhere else, and demand to run their flag up in another "racist pilgrim" town.

Here in Santa Cruz, CA our city council made us a "sanctuary city."

It may surprise you to know most Californians are as furious at the alien invasion as anyone else.

Overbreeding illegals and their hordes of anchor babies drive our crime rate through the roof.

Memo to citizens who are victimized by alien criminals in "sanctuary cities":

Find a lawyer who will sue the bejesus out of the "sanctuary" politicians responsible! (Why isn't this already being done?)

We as American's need to "right the wrong" and take back our country. Remember, "We The People", not,"We The Politician's". We can send troops all over the world to protect foreign borders but we can't use them to protect our own, so sad America.

Theodore Roosevelt's ideas on Immigrants and being an AMERICAN in 1907.

'In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American...There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag... We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language.. And we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people.'

Theodore Roosevelt 1907

Every American citizen needs to read this!
