Friday, Sep.10, a previously unknown group calling themselves the Supporters of al-Zawahri posted an Internet statement claiming to have "details about two kidnapped women aid workers" if all Muslim women held in Iraqi prisons be let go.
Now a second group has posted an Internet deadline and claims to have the women.
A second militant group claimed on Sunday to be holding two Italian aid workers in Iraq and threatened to kill them if Italy did not withdraw its troops within 24 hours. Italy's foreign minister said he would travel to the region to work for the two women's release.
The militant group's Internet statement, which could not be verified, was signed by "the Islamic Jihad Organization in Iraq." Last month a group calling itself Islamic Jihad Organization claimed responsibility for an attack on the offices of an Iraqi political party.

The Internet statement said the women were abducted Sept. 7 in retaliation for Italy's contributing 3,500 soldiers to the U.S.-led multinational force in Iraq.
"What will happen in the coming few hours will be related to the withdrawal from Iraq. We will not accept any substitute for that. We will not calm down or give in until those nonbelievers leave the land of the holy campaign, and until Islam's followers enjoy security in Iraq," said the statement, which appeared on a Web site known for carrying messages from Islamic militant groups.
"We are extending the deadline to 24 hours from posting this statement. After that, if we don't see the Italian soldiers withdrawing from Iraqi land, we will execute God's law against the hostages, which, God willing, will be slaughter," the statement added.
Italian Foreign Minister Franco Frattini flew to the Mideast on Monday in a bid to free two female aid workers taken hostage in Iraq.
"Frattini will renew the appeals for solidarity and for respect for the life of innocent civilians generously working for the Iraqi people," the ministry said.

MK answer me this. what you point out is true, but in that case how come the more extremist of your faith still set themselves apart not just from Christianity, but also from their mainstream Islamic brothers and sisters? The teachings and doctrine of both Christianity and Islam are underpinned by a fundamental belief in peace and caring for others. It is therefore totally inconsistent and hypocritical that these bigots hide behind their so-called religious beliefs. They are mis-guided uneducated and devoid of humanity, and there should be no tolerance for them or their extremist view-points. To fight violence with violence can only have one outcome - ARMAGEDDON - and we all know who will come off worse in the long run.
It's time that real Muslims and real Christians (and Jews for that matter), join forces together to deal with these ill-lead and mis-guided bigots- Together we stand, but divided, we will never see a change in circumstances for the better.
