Alberto Quintero-Salazar, a legal immigrant, admitted in 1998 to having sex with a child under 16 while he was over the age of 21, yet the 9th circuit court of appeals, that federal circus of a court on the west coast, says his legal status here cannot be revoked and he cannot be deported. Obviously Alberto Quintero-Salazar is the kind of immigrant we want coming and staying in our country according to this outrageous court.
Stated in their decision was that a person over 21 having sex with someone under the age of 16 is not a “vile, base or depraved” act.

In a 2-1 decision, the Ninth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco said the crime that Alberto Quintero-Salazar admitted in 1998, illegal intercourse between an adult over 21 and a youth under 16, was not the type of “vile, base or depraved” conduct that subjects a lawful U.S. resident to deportation.

Federal authorities sought to deport Quintero after detaining him in 2002 when he returned to San Francisco after visiting relatives in Mexico. Immigration courts ordered him deported in 2003, but he has remained here during his appeal.
The appeals court said a legal resident can be deported for committing a crime of "moral turpitude," defined as a vile, base or depraved offense that violates society's moral standards. That definition doesn't fit the charge against Quintero, the court said.

Avantika Shastri, a lawyer for Quintero, said the ruling shows that consensual sex, even when illegal, is not grounds for deportation of a lawful resident without evidence of "malicious or evil intent" or exploitation.
His lawyer has a funny way of stating things. "Consensual sex, even when illegal, is not grounds for deportation of a lawful resident. Well, I haven't been to law school, but committing an illegal act would then make you an unlawful resident wouldn't it?
This is the same circuit court that has done things like block Arizona Prop 200 requiring photo ID to vote.
