Brickman regularly audits their employees to check that their paperwork checks out. When someone is using stolen identity info, it is nearly impossible for the business owner to identify.

And yes, I have working in the industry for many years. If you want this work done, and done well, at a reasonable pay scale, you have to hire immigrants. American employees want to be paid more, and work less.

I was recently hired by Brickman as a crew member in OH.

While I was one of only two non-hispanic trainees in the orientation session, I can say the manager that went through our training session was adamant about ensuring everyone in that room was eligible to work in the United States. And I mean EVERYONE.

Yes, Brickman's crews are majority Hispanic, but that's just part and parcel of our new American work ethic. Personally, the guys I work with are great and I wouldn't trade them for anything.

And yes, they're all eligible to work in this country. Just so ya know.

I recently (2011) heard that Brinkman has been utilizing illegal immigrants from York, PA. They arrive at work 745am in two passenger vans. I also informed that the crew leaders are verbally abusive to the legal workers. If an employee needs to attend appointment for themselves or their family members they are fired. Then a few days later the crew leaders will call back the same employee (some return, some do not). Crew leaders have repeatively cause employees to have emotional breakdowns (threatening employees with their jobs, yelling at the employees, and cursing at the employees. The make their employees work 10 to 12 hours daily (Sunday thru Saturday). Crew leaders have refused to pay employees for work done. Crew leaders submit the hourly report before allowing employees to review the hours that they have written on the papers. Employees have questioned their hours when receiving their paychecks. Someone needs to investigate Brickman Landscaping. Going to the Human Resource is useless because they view all their employees as being discrentaled employees. When legal employees quit the crew leaders will brag and gloat that they force the employee to leave. CAN YOU SPELL THE WORD HARASSMENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Typical non-informed people making bold comments without any regard to knowing facts. Fact is Brickman does everything they are allowed to do by federal and state laws to ensure their workforce is elgible for employment in the United States. Some companies choose to ignore the laws of the land and others like Brickman do what the law allows. Problem is not Brickman, it's the laws. Oh and by the way, the laws are written by your United States Goverment. These laws require employers to make sure an applicant provides the required documents to complete the I-9 process however do not allow the employer to confirm that the documents are real. To do so is considered discrimination. Blame the goverment not the employers who have to live by the laws they write.

Brickman was just convicted of defrauding the federal government among other clients. They were underbidding all their competitors, and then they weren't doing 1/2 of their contracted work. Duke Realty who was contracted for the Mark Center massive building on 395 was charged for work that was never completed. They didn't do 1000's of hours of work like they were contracted to do. My HOA had hired Brickman to do landscape services and they were doing the same crap. They never did soil tests as required by law, before putting down fertilizer, and they never put any signs out saying pesticides had been sprayed .... or they did not spray for pests, which is probably why a number of our trees are now diseased. Watch out for this company. They cut corners to make a profit. They're bid was 1/2 the price of some of their competitors.... no we know why.

Brinkman sucks they are scab scum

Brinkman is now in st. Raymond's cemetery in the bronx. I work at st rays and 11 of our seasonal workers were fired. Some of these men have been with us for 7 years waiting to be hired full time as was the practice here for years. This is a teamster union cemetery and they are allowing this. We went from 65 men to 20 and it is getting worse now that the Brinkman scabs are here.

Brickman landscape is a complete joke. Basically the Kmart of commercial landscaping. Underbidding competitors, only to underperform to try and still make a buck is the name of the game. Cant speak for the rest of the nation, but in the Atlanta, Ga market they knowingly work around the laws to hire illegal workers. This is after they have already had a sting operation ran on them with numerous citations for knowingly hiring illegal aliens. Stay away from this company, they are only as good as their management- which is horrible.
