Araceli Medina, Wanted For Vicious Beating Of Baby, Fled To Mexico?

Bookmark and Share

Araceli Medina is wanted for the beating of a child so sever that it caused brain damage. Medina was a no show for her trial on Monday and a warrant has been issued for her arrest. Being a Mexican citizen it is thought she has fled to Mexico and once again justice for those in this country has been avoided.

How you can let a foreign national out of jail on such vicious charges in hopes that they show up for trial is beyond me.

Chicago Tribune

Araceli Medina, 29, ... was arrested in January 2006 and charged with aggravated battery of a child.... Judge Thomas Fecarotta Jr. issued a warrant for Medina's arrest.

Medina, a Mexican citizen, was baby-sitting for a friend's child when she began hitting him in the head to make him stop crying, authorities said.

Assistant State's Atty. Marilyn Hite-Ross said authorities initially did not think the baby was going to survive the beating. The child has serious brain damage, she said.
