Senate Comprehensive Immigration Reform Bill Includes Amnesty For Employers As Well

Bookmark and Share

The Senates continued insistence that their bill is not an amnesty is totally false. Uncovered items buried in the bill include a full amnesty for any businesses that have hired illegal aliens.

"Yes, this will be the bestest bill we could ever pass" said Ted Kennedy and John McCain in a joint press conference.

Washington Times

Among those who will be cleared of past crimes under the Senate's proposed immigration-reform bill would be the businesses that have employed the estimated 10 million illegal aliens eligible for citizenship and that provided the very "magnet" that drew them here in the first place.

Buried in the more than 600 pages of legislation is a section titled "Employer Protections," which states: "Employers of aliens applying for adjustment of status under this section shall not be subject to civil and criminal tax liability relating directly to the employment of such alien."

Supporters of the legislation insist that such provisions do not amount to "amnesty."

Too bad for all those suckers over the years who have tried to do everything by the book and ensure their workers are legal. Your competitors were right, you can just hire illegals, undercut the competition and get away with it in the end.

If we don't crack down on these employers the invasion will continue. You will always be able to hire illegals cheaper than "guest workers" or American citizens. Ten million illegals is nothing. Try 10 million every 5 years for the next quarter of a century.

The immigration reform seems descent, but there could certainly be more provisions. I think it will be a long process to close off our borders, even after we have the tightest security on land, what about water. Many citizens of Mexico go to so many extremes just to come to America. Obviously we will not be able to get all the illegal immigrants due to the inter-marrying of both Americans and Mexicans. The whole short time work permit is not going to work very well, there will be pregnant immigrants coming over and having their child in the U.S. and they will have to stay here. It is not the only fault of Mexico, America is just as much to blame, and our borders have been crossed for many years. The big corporations and companies have been reveling in the unsecured, almost free work of the illegal immigrants. We should be going after the big companies that employ them take away their jobs, and they may just leave on their own. Many of our illegal immigrants sometimes suffer more in the U.S. than back in Mexico, here they do not have identities, or health care, or the benefits of being a U.S. citizen. Maybe we can offer them those benefits if they actually come to the U.S. in the proper fashion. That will require a lot of relational work between the U.S. and Mexico. I have taken a couple of trips in Mexico, one to Cancun, and another to Belize, and both times,
I could see how crooked the government system was. A big help for the immigration reform, is to bring in more informed, educated, people to work in the legislature.
One of the politicians in North Carolina, (Nathan Tabor) has a good site discussing his policies on a conservative ideal (www.theconservativevoice.com). I may not be a big political guru, but I certainly know that there are soooo many complex issues approaching.
