In a hypocritical move that typifies where this administration is coming from, I turned on the news today to see Michelle Obama speaking at the Department of Education. She told the people there that they are doing a great job and that she herself is a product of the public education system. She also noted that the newly appointed head of the Department of Education, Arne Duncan, is a longtime friend of Barack, Michelle and Michelle's brother. It's so nice to know that he also magically happened to be the best person for the job in the whole country. Wasn't that convenient?
It seems that the decorating of the White House is done and that Michelle now has time to visit many agencies now to - as she put it - "learn".
However the Obama's are the typical liberals and chose to put their children in a private school because the public schools, the Department of Education and those who work for it obviously are not doing such a good job as Michelle portrays. I think everyone knows that.
I personally don't want Michelle to "learn". I want her to be First Lady and as an unelected person to stay the hell out of anything to do with running our agencies when she "learns" what she thinks is a better way.
I just found it so condescending for her to actual feel that she has a right to go to such an agency and espouse anything since her family will not be affected in any way at any decisions she comes up with since her children are in private school. It smacks so obvious of elitism and the liberal way. Where they will talk out of one side of their mouths about how government is great for everything including education and health care, yet they go to the private sector themselves when it comes to education and health care because they know that government systems suck. However they think that you deserve to have to suffer with the government systems.
This is a typical bait and switch. During the campaign many were led to believe that Michelle was just going to sit in the background and take care of the family etc etc... Of course I wasn't fooled and neither were nearly half of the country who didn't vote for Barack Obama. They knew that this woman - who puts off a know it all air about her - would not keep her nose out of public affairs and things that impact people on a daily basis.
So now we have to deal with this fashionly challenged, self-thought of diva who wasn't elected trying to impose her beliefs on our agencies.
This type of stuff disgusts me - and I'm sure it disgusts you as well.

You disgust me you ignorant fool. Educators have actually done a great job with what they've been given. They work incredibly long hours and get paid less than half of what anyone with comparable education, responsibility and long hours would get in the business world.
The problem is that teachers have been asked to solve the problems of society and dysfunctionaal families who feel all of their child's probleem can be blamed on their educational system and continue to be in denial. AND try as they may, teachers' hands are tied to using the government's choice of misguided educational practtices.
My only assumption here is that you have no personal experiences in the area of education and simply believe what you read.
