I have believed for quite awhile now that there will be a terrorist attack on US soil coming in 2009. Before anyone thinks my beliefs are simply related to the recent election of Barack Obama as president, let me assure you they are not. The pattern seems to revolve around 8 years. The first bombing of the World Trade Center occurred in 1993 and then 8 years later, in 2001 was the second bombing. 8 years.
The simple truth is that in the time since 9/11/2001 we simply haven't done enough to secure our ports and borders. There are literally 10's of millions of unknown people in our country who simply entered illegally. On top of this we live in a free society where people can pretty much buy whatever they want to facilitate their tasks of attacking America. People like Timothy McVeigh who was able to buy the materials he needed to blow up the Murrah building in Oklahoma City.
Also of subsequent weight is the fact that we are in a transition period between leaders. As was witnessed in the London and Madrid bombings they occurred during election periods. These are periods where there is uncertainty. We are currently in one of those periods. The attacks of 9/11 occurred after Bush took office in January 2001, a mere 8 months later.
The attacks of 9/11 happened because of our complacency and forgetfulness as the Clinton Administration did little to combat potential terror that was building up. Now granted Bush has done some overseas to try and combat terrorism, but the reality at home is that he has done little and actually worked against security. Our leaders have been more concerned with the illegal aliens welfare and being and not offending Mexico than of the security of the United States and it's people.
They have been of the belief that all of the people entering this country illegally are doing so because they just want a job and don't have other nefarious reasons. They have told us this time and time again. While many may focus on Mexican illegal aliens and their impacts on our governments systems of health care and education and some of them being members of gangs and drug cartels, they sometimes overlook the OTM's or Other Than Mexican illegal aliens that are also crossing through our southern border everyday.
These OTM's come from terrorist sponsoring nations. They have been raised in a culture of hating America. While many could simply be coming here for work or an opportunity, the real problem is that nobody actually knows this. To dismiss this is simply naive.
All of this leads to what I believe will be the terrorist attack that will occur this coming year. It will be on US soil and everyone will look around at the time and wonder why it occurred. It will occur due to complacency, lack of security and overly political correctness in the form of diversity at all costs. The 19 hijackers of 9/11 exploited our immigration system to get into - and remain in - the United States and those who are planning to attack us again are doing so right now as I type this. It seems some people never learn from history.
