After Bennigans Catered To Illegals With Spanish Menus - Bankruptcy Baby!

Bookmark and Share

How to destroy your business 101.

First, alienate all those who enjoyed your business as being "an Irish experience" by removing that from your logo and the feel of the environment.

Second, tell your visitors that you really only care about a certain race, which is not Irish, by providing Spanish only menus in the United States of America.

Third, file for bankruptcy.

What a failed marketing device. This should be a lesson to all businesses. Focus on your business and stop trying to make statements - political or otherwise. And stop trying to cater to one segment of society that only represents a small percentage of the country. Maybe our presidential candidates could learn a lesson from this. After all they both have been pulling the same crap with Spanish language ads, websites and speaking before groups that wants benefits for Hispanics only. If only they'd all file for bankruptcy as well, since they are already morally bankrupt.

CBS

Customers showing up for lunch at Bennigan's restaurants in Chicago and across the country found quite a surprise Tuesday morning, when all the corporate-owned locations had signs on display reading "closed for business."

As CBS 2's Joanie Lum reports, Bennigan's Grill and Tavern closed all of its corporate-owned locations nationwide after filing for bankruptcy.

Tipped by: Debbie Schlussel who was all over the Spanish language menus and change of Bennigan's logo.

I am pretty sure they had tough times for a while. Way before they started making changes.

Digger, your news stories usually back you up. There is nothing in this story that indicates their menus were Spanish only.(?)

I haven't eaten at Bennigan's in years, but thought about eating the newly renovated location near me, but now I won't. Thanks for the info. Ban Bennigan's and tell them so!

Hey Ken,

It was not included in the story on them going bankrupt. The link to Schlussel above goes to this Dallas News report on the nationwide Spanish menus.

Plano-based Bennigan's Grill & Tavern has started making Spanish-language menus available to its diners nationwide.

The new menus ... have been well-received, a company executive said Monday.

"Hispanics purchase a meal outside of their home as many as four times a week, and we don't want language to be a barrier," Jennifer Gamble, Bennigan's director of marketing, said in a statement. "This Spanish menu gives our servers that option when they need it."

The Spanish-language menu is available alongside the English-language menu and includes the same items.
