Following up on the story of the disgusting vote the Berkeley City Council made the other day declaring the United States Marines an "unwelcome invader" in their city. Senator Jim DeMint of South Carolina says he is working on legislation to remove funding from Berkeley and give that funding to the United States Marines.
Go Senator DeMint!
“This is a slap in the face to all brave service men and women and their families. The First Amendment gives the City of Berkeley the right to be idiotic, but from now on they should do it with their own money. If the city can’t show respect for the Marines that have fought, bled and died for their freedom, Berkeley should not be receiving special taxpayer funded handouts. I am currently drafting legislation to ensure that American taxpayers aren’t forced to pay for this insult by rescinding all of the earmarks for Berkeley in the Omnibus Appropriations bill, and to transfer the funds to the Marine Corps.”
And for my readers, Senator DeMint also has a good record when it comes to illegal immigration

The Carden Chronicles
The KARMA that the town of Berkeley DESERVES is at a time when they might NEED the Marines to save their ASSES, say perhaps during a LARGE EARTHQUAKE - that the Marines will say THE HELL WITH BERKELEY - GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR DISASTER - THESE INTRUDERS ARE NOT GOING TO HELP YOU.
That would be the perfect karmic justice...
I support the troops and the right of the Marines to recruit anywhere they want.
I just wonder if there were perhaps an ABORTION CLINIC in that same space, how Code Pink would feel if the shoe were on the other foot and some anti-abortion protesters obtained a parking space permit for the purpose of harrassing the clinic. I will bet they would suddenly NOT be in favor of granting the parking space permit.
This entire decision is POLITICAL in nature and the residents of Berkeley and the council should be ASHAMED of themselves. You have a right to your opinion - you DO NOT have a right to harrass the Marines or any other group with which you disagree and the town council should certainly not be turning a blind eye to the VANDALISM perpetrated by this group Code Pink.
I really hope the Congress pulls the Federal funding for Berkeley. It's the right thing to do. Go get your own money you traitors!

Of course you must understand that a large chunk of the money they plan to deny the city of Berkeley is for school lunch subsidies for poor children. The SIX members of the Berkeley city council who voted in favor of the anti-Marines resolutions are indeed misguided douches-- and I AM a liberal, just not an idiotic one-- but they've done nothing. They've taken no action, just made a stand of douchebaggery that embarrassed the entire city. Code Pink isn't even based in Berkeley-- it's in Albany. So because six dumbasses make what amounts to nothing more than a stupid public pronouncement and giving some assholes a free parking space one day a week, you conservatives think it's fine and dandy to take FOOD away from POOR CHILDREN in retaliation.
I strongly disagree with the city council and I despise Code Pink with the fire of a thousand suns for making liberals look like fools, but the Repubs trying to punish the entire citizenry of Berkeley-- even the majority here who disagree, even those who counter-protest, even those too young to have a voice-- for the actions of SIX people-- not even the entire city council-- makes you guys pretty much the bad guys here.
