A massive joint venture in California between the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department Narcotics and SWAT Divisions, the Barstow Police Department, the San Bernardino Police Department SWAT Unit, ICE, Border Patrol, County Probation, the Redlands Police Department and San Bernardino County Sheriff's Aviation Division resulted in the busts of 76 illegal aliens and 10 drug and firearms arrests. One individual was even caught with dynamite
. A pound of meth was also found.
Over 120 agents executed 4 search warrants simultaneously in the busts.
They were arrested on charges ranging from possession of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance for sale, possession of a loaded firearm and possession of dynamite, according to a Sheriff's Department press release.
Seventy-six people were taken into custody by Border Patrol and Immigration and Customs Enforcement for violating a variety of immigration laws, Barstow Police Sgt. Mark Franey said.
Approximately one pound of methamphetamine, with a street value of approximately $15,000, was recovered, Franey said. An undisclosed amount of money was also seized.
"It was very successful for what we had to work with," Franey said. "We were working in an open area with a large amount of employees. Containing the area and preventing people from throwing drugs into drains was challenging."
This needs to be done country wide all at once.
