I've had a cable modem for years and years and have always been happy with Comcast and ATT Broadband. Over the past few weeks though my modem drops a ridiculous amount of times each day. It used to be that I'd lose connection maybe once a week and it was in the middle of the night for an hour. Now though it's everyday I can't reach the Internet for sometimes hours and hours. It's worse than dial up. I called them and they deny it's anything on their end, but according to the modem lights everything going out of here is fine and my digital cable on the tv is ok too.
It seems to have occurred right after Comcast bought ATTBI. Maybe they fired the wrong people and now they don't know what the hell they're doing. Has anyone else in Sacramento been experiencing the same thing?
They are likely doing upgrades in Sacramento. I live in Belmont on the Peninsula and went through the same thing for quite a while (at least a month) while Comcast upgraded their lines to fiber-optic.
I live in Sonoma. Same experience. And it's not related to upgrade, which they completed a year ago. Numerous times a day I wait till I get the icon that my network is connected again.

I'm glad it's not just me. I thought I was starting to go insane.
They better fix it or I'm going to have to get DSL or some other alternative. It's only been in the past few weeks or so and I'm wondering why.
If they at least gave a reason rather than saying "we can send a technician out to your place" and denying that anything is going wrong on their end. Trying to make you customer feel like they're an idiot isn't really a smart move on their part.
yes comcast sucks.my signal is 3 times worse than it was a couple of months ago my ping was about 130 to 170 i wasnt happy about that. now its about 366. and the internet drops all the time now.

Yeah I'm gettin it to. Bad. With splitter to t.v I get: Received Signal Strength: -15.0 and I can increase that
to -10 taking out the splitter. In the daytime I was getting + 9-11. Maybe it is the phone service which makes sense since phone talktime tends to increase in the evening. Always droppin out now, etc. I found a pretty good place to test your speeds which is: http://192.168.100.1/diagnostics_page.asp
Good Luck everyone,
YES! YES! YES!. The e-mail is not allowing me to delete unless I open the message; ton of SPAM is now in in-box.
Three calls to Comcast has accomplished NOTHING, except that a wanta be Tech has forwarded my complaint to the"BIG BOYS" (meaning the real Techs, I assume) This has been going on for at least two weeks. I'm using my yahoo e-mail more and more. Looking at any other co. that provides high speed internet service in Sacramento and if they offer TV service it's an even better chance I'd switch. All Comcast has done is get worse and cost more for the crap service. Before cost was a factor in changing, but now I've been quoted a price that is less for what appears to be more and doesn't involve a dish.
Dish isn't stable here because of fog (been there done that)
