Japanese Hostage Taken In Iraq

A Japanese engineer was taken hostage after his two Iraqi bodyguards were killed in an apparent planned attack. The identity of the engineer is not yet known.

The engineer, who worked at a power station in the city of Beiji, was traveling with two Iraqi policemen when gunmen stopped their car, killed the two officers and abducted the Japanese, said Iraqi police Lt. Shaalan Allawi.

The engineer was not identified by name and no further details were immediately available.
