ETA Bombs Spain Again With Seven Explosions

Reports are that ETA phoned in the bombings to police just before the bombs went off in order to allow police to clear the locations so there were no massive casualties. Aren't they such a nice sweet terrorist group? This is the second set of bombs unleashed. On December 3, 2004, ETA bombed several gas stations.

No serious injuries were reported from the seven ETA bombs that exploded simultaneously in cities across Spain on Monday, Spanish officials said.

Ten people suffered hearing problems from the blast in Santillana del Mar, on Spain's northern coast, and one person experienced similiar problems from the bomb in Ciudad Real, south of Madrid, government officials said.

A police officer in Santillana del Mar told a Reuters photographer that one of the affected people was a young girl, reported by local media to be seven years old.

Spanish papers express their anger and contempt for the Basque separatist group Eta, which detonated several bombs across Spain on Monday.

Some papers are also scornful of Eta's political wing, Batasuna.

A Basque nationalist daily argues however for an understanding of the political reasons behind the conflict in the region.

There are also 7 excerpts from media across Spain at that BBC article.
