Well perhaps it wasn't mandatory, but it was sanctioned by the school board. A school in Texas had what is known as TWIRP day where boys and girls were supposed to dress up as the opposite sex in hopes of role playing what the opposite sex faces in life.

Well now it has been canceled and replaced with Camo Day.
