A Message To All Those Who Wished Us Vets A Happy Veterans Day

Bookmark and Share

I would just like to thank those of you who truthfully thanked our veterans for their service. I bold the truthfully word because reading around the Blogosphere I see some posts from those that have been against the military and make claims it's "just against your commanders". I've seen those who refused to mention anything was wrong with people spitting on returning soldiers and writing it off as simply partisan anger. There's a few who just want to try and cloud their views against military actions of any kind by acting like they appreciate those in the military.

I've been in the military since I was about 5 when my mother joined the Army as a nurse. I grew up on military bases and moving around. I woke up from about the age of 6, to about the age of 11, to *buhda buhda buhda* sounds of machine gun fire as the M.P.s were training in the forests behind my on-base housing at an MP training base.

My father was in Vietnam as a pilot in the Air Force and later taught at the Pentagon. My Brother in-law was in the Navy going out to sea for 6 months out of the year on a carrier. My cousin is a Marine who is on his second tour in Iraq. My best friend was in the Navy and was on a ship in the Persian Gulf for 9 months during Gulf War I. During the same period my mother was in a M.A.S.H. unit for the 82nd Airborne and one of the first groups in during Gulf War I and saw horrific casualties. Also for those of you who didn't know, I myself, was in the Navy. I got to my ship when it had just come back from the first Gulf War. During our Navy schooling there were rumors that we would all be yanked out of our schools prematurely and sent to the gulf.

So, some would say I'm pretty familiar with the military, the people and their lifestyle. For all of them I'd just like to thank you for your support.

For those of you who are insincere and saying thanks without truly meaning it and give weird stares to people in uniform you see walking on the street. For those who are one minute saying you support our troops and the next writing them all off as barbarians because of a few individuals in a prison I would just like to say

FUCK YOU!

Excellent post. I'm sick of the left's bullshit of "supporting the troops but not their commanders or the war". The anti-war left openly roots against our military and deserves a big FUCK YOU! I second that motion!

Okay, I don't know what is meant by "commanders" and since I am about to walk out the door, I don't have a lot of time to figure it out, but I can tell you that I am of the Left, I do support the troops, I don't support the war in Iraq, and I don't support Bush in some of his actions.

Does that mean I don't support the "commanders?" I am not sure, as I know that Bush is the "CnC" and all.

But, anywho ... we sent out care packages to the troops yesterday in celebration of Veteran's Day. My children really love picking what we will put into them and they always draw pictures for the soldiers.

I have been married to a military man and sat at home watching the news daily when he was in Desert Storm. He is my ex now, but he is currently in Iraq as well. My ex boyfriend just came home from Iraq and is going again in a month. My brother, various other family members, and friends and friends are either currently serving or are veterans. My family supports the troops. We know what sacrifices they and their families make.

I am sincerely sorry that I did not post my thank you to the vets in this group yesterday!
My father is a vet and I am the ONLY one in my family that ackmowledges him on Veteran's Day - and it PISSES ME OFF!
I am a property manager and I have numerous vets (some shut ins) and I made it a point to go visit, hug and thank each and every one of them.
I was raised an Air Force brat and loved the experience. I learned the importance of duty through my father's dedication to his country.
I still get an enormous thrill when I hear military jets overhead. I know that there is someone in that machine watching over me!

To all you vets:

THANK YOU!
I would hug y'all too if I could reach you!
